Sauvage is the best-selling fragrance in the world, which means one thing: you've already smelled it on someone this week. The real question isn't whether it's good — it's whether you want to smell like it too, and if so, which strength.

We decant both ends of the range by hand in Finland: Sauvage EDT (from €6.95 for 2ml — bright, peppery, the version everyone knows) and Sauvage Elixir (darker, spicier, absurdly long-lasting — a few sprays is a whole day). Both from authentic bottles, in labelled 2ml, 5ml and 10ml sprays.

EDT or Elixir?

What's actually different about the Elixir?

It's a concentrated, spicier take — cinnamon and nutmeg over the familiar Sauvage DNA, with performance that borders on excessive. The EDT is fresher and easier to wear casually. They share a name more than a personality.

Isn't Sauvage overworn?

Popular, yes. But there's a reason for it, and on the right skin it still performs like few others. The Elixir is the move if you want the Sauvage compliments without smelling like every third person in the office.
